22 Questions
With Mary
Style. Taste. Creating with intention.
What are you returning to?
A woman who trusts her intuition.
Who stays true to her own path.
What kind of woman are you becoming?
All the lessons I had to learn somehow led me exactly here.
There is nothing left to do but go after the thing I've secretly wanted ever since I was a kid.
What feels different about this chapter?
That I'm a conventional woman.
I'm everything but conventional.
What have you stopped trying to prove?
At six in the morning.
Coffee.
A notebook.
Looking out over the rooftops of Paris while everyone else is still asleep.
When do you feel most like yourself?
Everything satin.
Thong heels from Alaïa.
Sparkling natural wine.
Reading my Human Design chart.
What are you obsessed with lately?
Writing.
Curating.
Editing.
Designing Pinterest pins.
What's something you could happily spend an entire day doing?
The ones that make me feel something.
Or make me want to become someone.
What kind of photographs stay with you?
An oversized blazer.
When I moved to Paris it quietly became my uniform.
What piece in your wardrobe tells your story?
Seven in the morning.
The Jardin des Tuileries before the city wakes up.
Paris belongs to the early birds.
What's your favourite hour in Paris?
Work to live.
Not the other way around.
To enjoy the small moments.
A glass of wine on a terrace.
Small talk at the bakery.
What does Paris continue to teach you?
My dream Paris apartment.
What are you still searching for?
Having the freedom to follow my ideas.
Not having everything figured out.
Letting life unfold into an adventure.
What does success look like now?
Inspired to return to the version of themselves that existed before everyone else had an opinion.
What do you hope people feel after spending time in your world?
Morning.
The silence belongs to the creatives.
Morning or midnight?
Digital.
I love film.
But I'm far too much of a control freak.
Film or digital?
A gallery.
There's something romantic about wandering through one.
I've always wanted to go on a gallery date.
Maybe this year.
Bookshop or gallery?
Black and white.
Some stories don't need colour.
Black & white or colour?
85mm f/1.2.
I'm a prime lens girl for life.
One lens forever?
Technicolor — Sunni Colón
Current song on repeat?
A pair of white Chanel pumps from Matthieu Blazy's couture debut.
Last thing you photographed?
My black journal.
And a black ink pen.
Writing has always been therapy for my soul.
One object you couldn't live without?
